Secondary School Support
The English Hubs are running a new pilot project in order to support Secondary Schools in helping their struggling readers in KS3.
The aims of the pilot are:

To support secondary schools to take a whole school approach to reading

To support secondary schools to improve outcomes for pupils with reading needs

To increase knowledge on supporting reading in secondary schools
This pilot will cover supporting struggling readers with their needs which may include phonics, fluency and/or comprehension.
This support is free of charge and participating schools will receive:

A reading provision development day with tailored support from a Secondary Literacy Specialist

£100 contribution towards releasing the Reading/Literacy Lead on the development day

Up to £3,000 in resource funding to support improving reading which can be spent on resources for phonics, fluency or comprehension or on training or assessment materials

A follow up half day visit tailored to the schools needs

Potential further tailored support days from a Secondary Literacy Specialist
